The wet season tells of the washing away of the dust, the filling of the waterholes, the rivers and the creeks, with fresh water. Observing the shifts of the landscape is very important for life in the bush. Adaptation to nature's change is vital. People need to be in sync with the rhythm of the surrounding environment. Through observation and adaptation they thrive. These key elements are full of wisdom and spirituality, evoking a sense of respect and symbiosis with our natural world. Painting these elements is a gesture of gratitude and care for our planet. Helen, having had a traditional upbringing, has always been following the ebb and flow of nature's rhythms; and by observation she knew when to go hunting, when the crocodile was in the nearby lake and when the soil was ready to accept new life.
