Falk Kautzner Biography
Born in Germany in 1944, Falk migrated to Australia at the age of ten. His early working life as a merchant marine took him to the rivers and waterways of South East Asia and Papua New Guinea, which inspired him to start painting rainforests and wildlife in the late seventies. By this time Falk was in his late thirties. A special talent as a photo-realist started to emerge.Entirely self taught, Kautzner has risen to international acclaim. His paintings are praised for their engaging, immaculate detail and clarity of light. He has exhibited in galleries throughout Australia - for the last 12 years with Wentworth Galleries in Sydney. His work is collected widely throughout the world; in Europe, Japan, China, USA and Hong Kong. His love of ships, the sparkling ocean and the wandering spirit of the mariner remain ever present in his works. He is also known for his sweeping panoramas of Sydney Harbour, teeming with life and possibility. Falk's work and the detail within is created with a paintstaking process requiring great skill and patience. Each piece is a vast undertaking and every work that becomes available is swiftly snapped up by collector's.
