Rex Turnbull Biography
Artist statement: 'My practice is located in Rosebery, Sydney. I am a story teller. My work reflects social and political attitudes both negative and positive. Each work has a narrative.
This narrative is for the artist to know and for an audience to discover or interpret. The titles are often suggestive to give the viewer a starting point from which to begin. I understand that art is subjective and what appeals to one may not appeal to another. Similarly – the interpretation of the ‘visual’ can be totally different from one person to another.
I am happy that people may see something quite different to what was intended. To provide a platform for discussion is important. I am a realist - as are my works.' Rex Turnbull studied graphic design at Wellington Polytechnic School of Design (Massey University).
