Terry-Pauline Price is an incredibly talented painter with a career spanning over three decades. As a direct descendant of the famous German composer Robert Schumann and born into a home of artists and musicians, Price's artistic lineage has inspired her creative explorations from an early age. As a young woman, Price was determined to explore life beyond Australia. She travelled and lived overseas until she felt compelled to return to her hometown of Melbourne. Here, she studied Art & Design and quickly started her professional artistic journey. Since 1986 – when Price successfully opened her first solo-exhibition – Price has been a full time artist devoted to creating captivating work that inspires and transports its audiences. Her award-winning pieces have been added to collections throughout Australia, New Zealand, the USA, France, Italy and England. Price’s paintings feature whimsical compositions in vibrant, but harmonious colours reminiscent of carefree childhood memories. Set in the Australian outback, the youthful characters in her paintings are seen exploring the natural surroundings, flora and birdlife. Beyond a sense of freedom, the birds in Price’s works represent a profound way to connect to nature. Moreover, the children interact with their feathered companions playfully and instinctively. They are never unsafe, but always captured in a moment of innocence that exists forever in the viewer’s own memories of childhoods past. In a similar way Price’s exquisite scenes easily allow us to appreciate our deep rooted intuitions of being in and connecting to the great outdoors and all the beauty it holds.
